A resolution on the fate of the former Ellwood City Medical Center is getting closer. Monday was the deadline for bids to be received for the sale of the medical center and two other hospitals owned by the bankrupt Americore Holdings LLC. According to online records in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Eastern Kentucky District, where the proceedings are being held, a total of 22 bids were received as of Friday for Ellwood, St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., and Izard County Medical Center in Calico Rock, Ark.
