The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Thursday ended the six-month moratorium on new enrollments for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) providers. CMS placed the six-month moratorium on DMEPOS providers on Feb. 27 to curb fraud in the sector. Thursday, Aug. 27, marks six months. In May, CMS imposed a six-month moratorium on new Medicare enrollments of home health and hospice providers. Providers have suspected that the home health and hospice moratorium will be extended.
