The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is poised to propose widespread deregulation of healthcare. The agency has submitted a forthcoming proposed rule for review by the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). CMS indicated that the rule is designed to modernize the Medicare and Medicaid Conditions of Participation, Conditions for Coverage and other requirements. The OMB has classified the proposed rule as “economically significant.” The complete text of the proposed rule is not yet publicly available. CMS has yet to reveal specific regulations that would be rolled back.
