If the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services plans to extend the six-month home health and hospice moratorium, it will inform providers in advance, a top official said. “What I will say is that if we decide to extend it, we will provide 60 days notice,” Jeneen Iwugo, acting director of the Center for Program Integrity at CMS, said during a keynote panel discussion at the National Alliance for Care at Home’s Finance and Technology Summit in Boston. During the session, CMS and providers aired their feelings and concerns about the moratorium, which began May 13 and has compounded other major onerous program integrity measures, along with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement cuts.
