Connecticut hospital regulators are seeking more information from a subsidiary of United Healthcare that is trying to acquire controlling interest in the Guilford Surgical Center. Officials with the state’s Office of Health Strategy are asking representatives of Illinois-based Surgical Care Affiliates to provide additional justification for their request to acquire an additional ownership stake in the ambulatory surgery center, which is located in the Innovation Business Park on Goose Lane in Guilford. The surgery center, which is owned by a group of 23 doctors, sold a 49 percent ownership stake to Surgical Care Affiliates in November 2022. The company is now seeking to acquire an additional 9 percent stake in the facility, which would give Surgical Care Affiliates controlling interest.
