Merging companies will face less burdensome antitrust reviews from the Trump administration after the US Justice Department said it will fast-track investigations by reducing the amount of information that initially must be turned over. When a deal is announced, enforcers will first focus on the most glaring risks of the transaction in their information requests, DOJ officials said. In exchange, companies will agree to give the government the time it needs for a more thorough assessment of the initial concerns. If DOJ’s questions are resolved in the initial phase, the review will end, the officials said.
