An agreement between Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus and Avery Eisenreich has added another twist to the already tangled saga of the CarePoint Health hospitals. Under the terms of the agreement, Hudson Regional Hospital would purchase and operate Bayonne Medical Center and Hoboken University Medical Center, while assuming the lease from Eisenreich, the principle owner of land the hospitals sit on. The details of the agreement are unclear. But the deal would apparently undercut negotiations that are already underway between CarePoint Health and two prospective buyers. Hospital chain RWJBarnabas Health intends to purchase HUMC and Christ Hospital in Jersey City. And BMC Hospital LLC, an entity made up of former operators of the chain of mobile surgery clinics Surgicore, is in talks to buy Bayonne Medical Center.
