The University of Kansas Health System is parting ways with a western Kansas hospital. KU Health System and Hays Medical Center Center decided to pull back from an affiliation deal and operate independently, Hays Post reports. Also leaving the KU Health System is Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned, a partner of Hays Medical Center, which goes by HaysMed. The affiliation dates back to 2016, although KU Health CEO Bob Page told the Kansas City Business Journal at the time that he and the CEO of HaysMed had started talking about collaborating for about four years.
