Galesburg Cottage Hospital is changing hands. “I am writing this morning to inform you that SBJ Groups Inc. has signed a purchase agreement for one hospital. The transaction is expected to finalize on May 31, 2020.” Cottage CEO Bob Moore said in a memo to employees and the hospital Board of Trustees. According to Moore, SBJ is “focused on enhancing and growing quality care and services to meet community needs”, and Cottage will continue providing “compassionate local care to our patients”. This transfer of ownership comes after a financial restructuring by Cottage’s owners Quorum Health Corporation, who have owned Cottage alongside 22 other community hospitals across the United States.
