Recent staffing industry consolidation has made a challenging growth environment even more difficult for small and midsize healthcare staffing firms. “It’s all driven by margin pressure,” said Crystal Fullilove, healthcare analyst at Staffing Industry Analysts, ahead of SIA’s Healthcare Staffing Summit in November. This margin pressure intensifies when staffing firms participate with MSPs, Fullilove said. Expect even more consolidation over the next 12–24 months as larger firms look to consolidate their advantages, Fullilove said. They will also invest aggressively in proprietary platforms, expand self-service for clients and candidates, and tighten their MSP/VMS partnerships.
