Last week, the Bourne Partners team attended the 2026 CPHI Americas Conference in Philadelphia to meet with executives at a broad range of pharma services and technology companies to gather real-world perspectives on the various disruptive forces that are impacting drug development and manufacturing today. The dominant theme that came up over and over again at the Conference was the ongoing regionalization (onshoring) of pharma manufacturing and services. The consensus view is that the recently announced Section 232 tariffs are here to stay. Bourne Partners sees these tariffs amplifying an ongoing capital spending “supercycle” among U.S./domestic pharma companies and biotech firms.
