Three Lessons Learned from Transformative Health Care M&A

Health care organizations using transactions to help transform their business often fail to achieve expected synergies or effectively execute the integration plan, according to an EY-Parthenon analysis of key health care deals over the last 10 years. EY-Parthenon studied more than 2,000 health care transactions over the past decade and identified 37 large and complex deals in the “transact-to-transform” category for further analysis. Unlike other health care M&A that seeks to create economies of scale or enhance existing products or services, these transactions are premised on a strategic vision to tap into new markets and transform health care operations.
