VITAS Healthcare is shifting more of its attention towards acquisitions during a six-month national moratorium on Medicare hospice enrollment. VITAS has long prioritized organic growth and acquisition opportunities in Florida and other states with Certificate of Need (CON) policies in place. New market entry is stymied during the temporary halt on hospice enrollment, but other opportunities exist to increase geographic reach, said Joel Wherley, president and CEO of the Chemed Corp. (NYSE: CHE) subsidiary.
