Health Care Service Corp. made a tidy living selling Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in five states for decades. The nonprofit health insurance company has grander ambitions now. Building a network won’t necessarily be easy in the current environment, when providers are intensely displeased with Medicare Advantage carriers over reimbursements, claims processing, prior authorizations and other matters, and many are simply opting out. “Providers now more so have the leverage in this market,” said Neil Patil, health policy director at the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy.
