About 40 “interested parties” from across the country responded to calls for bids to purchase, lease, or manage the University of Toledo Medical Center, although UT officials still have not released specifics on those now being considered by UT officials. Bid proposals regarding the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital included those from for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals – both from within Ohio and nationally – and private equity companies, according to a presentation Monday during a UT finance and audit committee meeting. ItÍs unclear if those 40 interested parties ultimately submitted bids by UT’s June 10 deadline. Only “qualified parties” that signed non-disclosure agreements were then given access to financial and operational information on UTMC, according to Monday’s presentation.
