Healthcare continues to add jobs but the industry’s gains in 2024 did not outpace 2023’s performance — except when it involved jobs within hospitals. Pandemic recovery contributed to hospital hiring, said Danny Schmidt, healthcare senior industry analyst at audit, tax and consulting firm RSM US. The robust spending on healthcare-related construction from 2020 to 2023, to meet demand of an aging population, is helping create jobs too, he said. “Now that new facilities are completing construction, it’s time to fill them up with talent to deliver care,” he said.
