Sage Therapeutics talked with 43 “counterparties” over the course of last year and early 2025 as the 15-year-old company sought a lifeline for its grand ambitions, according to new regulatory filings. The neuroscience biotech eventually landed on a $561 million exit to Supernus Pharmaceuticals last month. The Supernus deal wasn’t an easy exit to forge. Sage rejected a buyout offer from — and sued — its partner Biogen after what it claims was a breach of their standstill agreement.
