One of the Finger Lakes region’s largest ambulance services could soon become part of Mercy Flight. The air and ground medical transport nonprofit Mercy Flight, Inc. of Buffalo has signed an agreement to acquire Finger Lakes Ambulance EMS. Mercy Flight says it aims to expand access to high-quality emergency services. For the past five years, Mercy Flight and Finger Lakes Ambulance have worked together. However, like many emergency medical organizations nationwide, they’ve had to navigate staffing shortages, a rise in call volume, a rise in operating costs, and unstable reimbursement structures.
