The Kobacker family has announced that Kobacker House, the historic inpatient hospice in Columbus, Ohio, will transition its mission to Ohio’s Hospice. The transition will begin with inpatient operations within the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Kobacker House’s founders have cited that the move was in part driven by concerns over increasing private equity interest in the hospice space. The decision for the Kobacker House to join forces with Ohio’s Hospice came after OhioHealth completed its partnership with Compassus in 2024. Compassus is a portfolio company of the private equity firm Towerbrook Capital Partners.
