Northwell Health has added another medical office property to its growing real estate portfolio. The health system purchased the 17,714-square-foot building on .46 acres at 1728-1732 Sunrise Highway in Merrick for $9.5 million in an off-market deal. The property is occupied by Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group, a Northwell affiliate. There are about three years left on the property’s lease term, and Northwell was motivated to secure ownership to reinforce its long-term plans for continued healthcare delivery within the community, according to a broker on the deal. Northwell was self-represented, while Tom Bigansky of North Village Realty represented the seller, Berkeley Capital LLC, in the sales transaction.
