Pharma services encompasses contract and outsourced services provided to the biopharmaceutical industry across the drug development and commercialization lifecycle. The sector emerged as a popular area of PE investment in 2022 and 2023, but its momentum has since stalled as the biopharma industry has undergone an extended funding drought and regulatory changes have delayed dealmaking. Segments most exposed to weakening demand were hardest hit, with the outsourcing and clinical services segments seeing 26.9% and 39.7% YoY declines in transaction volume, respectively.
