Flemington, N.J.-based Hunterdon Health and Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health signed a letter of intent June 22 to explore a proposed merger between the two nonprofit health systems. Hunterdon Health comprises its flagship hospital, Hunterdon Medical Center, and a growing network of more than 30 medical practices across central New Jersey. It also features the Hunterdon Medical Center Family Practice Residency program. Hackensack Meridian Health comprises 18 hospitals, more than 500 care locations, and more than 40,000 employees, the release said.
