AMA Survey: Physician Burnout and Job Satisfaction Are Improving

According to a new survey from the American Medical Association (AMA), burnout among physicians has continued to decrease since the pandemic while job satisfaction increases, suggesting that things are “moving in the right direction.” Overall, AMA found that the number of physicians reporting at least one symptom of burnout in 2023 was 48.2%, a decline from 53% who said the same in 2022. This is also the first time that physician burnout has been below 50% since 2021, when a record 62.8% of physicians reported burnout.
