Bourne Partners is hearing more and more from its biopharma, contract research organization (CRO), and trial site network relationships about potential opportunities to use artificial intelligence (AI) to better design and execute clinical trials –particularly as drug development becomes increasingly complex. In parallel, Bourne Partners sees vertical SaaS vendors in the clinical trial space successfully using AI to better leverage proprietary data and accentuate their domain expertise. Bourne Partners anticipates that the rise of agentic AI may lead to greater software/SaaS verticalization – i.e., specialty SaaS vendors with specific “vertical” focus, such as clinical trials.
