The city of San Francisco will purchase two residential care facilities at risk of closing, Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Rafael Mandelman announced Monday. The city’s acquisition of the two sites, Grove Street House and South Van Ness Manor, is part of a larger effort by Breed to address what city officials say is a “closure crisis” impacting the city’s board and care facilities. “The Grove Street House and South Van Ness Manor provide essential care for some of our most vulnerable residents–people with mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders, and people who are looking for a step on the path out of homelessness,” Breed said in a statement.
