After several years of discussions, Ellis Medicine and St. Peter’s Health Partners are no longer exploring plans to merge. The decision reportedly came after the two healthcare systems reevaluated their long-term priorities. Merger discussions first began in 2020, when Ellis and St. Peter’s signed a letter of intent to examine a joint affiliation. At the time, the two organizations said they were looking at the partnership as a way to improve regionwide care and lower overall healthcare costs. Now, Ellis and St. Peter’s said that broader healthcare industry changes have led them to conclude their Management Services Agreement and Professional Services Agreement.
