Faith Community Hospital System (FCHS) filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on Saturday, but hospital officials say it will be business as usual for the hospital. In a press release, filing bankruptcy will allow the hospital that provides FCHS with leverage against insurance companies that owe the hospital millions of dollars in unpaid health care claims. “We assure the public that it is no closing and has no intention of closing,” the release stated. “It will be business as usual for FCHS.” The release states that only insurance companies and a couple of large lenders will be affected. It will not affect vendors, patients, employees, or taxpayers. The release states there will be no interruption of services, or the quality and level of care for patients.
