The Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes (CRC), a nonprofit offering supportive services to those affected by cancer, announced its recent affiliation with the Cayuga Health System. The affiliation agreement went into effect July 1, the same day Kim Pugliese, the former executive director at CRC, stepped down from the position after three years on the job. The grassroots organization, founded in 1994, subsists largely on donations and grants from the state or federal government to provide its services for free of charge. But year after year, its biggest expense is staffing, Pugliese said, and “very few” grants are available for operational expenses.
