Healthcare merger and acquisition activity slumped in the first quarter of 2025, according to statistics from Modern Healthcare Data+Insights. Dealmaking declined 3.8% during the first three months of the year as uncertainty about the economy grew amid a flurry of activity under President Donald Trump including tariffs on foreign goods and a slew of regulatory changes. Transactions in the digital health, medical device and supplies, home care and hospice, and staffing industries rose, but there were fewer mergers and acquisitions in the pharmaceutical, physician practice and hospital sectors compared with the first quarter of 2024.
