Citing “fraudulent Medicare billing” by suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS), the Trump administration on Feb. 25 announced a six-month nationwide moratorium on the enrollment of new Medicare DMEPOS suppliers. The moratorium announcement was one of several made on Feb. 25 to “crack down on fraud in Medicare and Medicaid to protect patients and taxpayers and improve affordability,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) said in a press release.
