The widespread effects following the cyberattack on UnitedHealth Group’s Change Healthcare subsidiary in February have triggered bipartisan concerns in Congress about healthcare consolidation. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have become more vocal in their calls to rein in mergers and acquisitions. Though the negative publicity probably won’t be enough to spook most companies out of deal-making, many could proceed with increased caution, M&A advisors and consultants said. Companies will likely dedicate more time and resources to the transaction process to prevent raising red flags.
