Greenwood (Miss.) Leflore Hospital filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection April 15, a hospital spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s. The filing comes days after a WARN notice was sent to employees informing them the hospital could close June 15 if it is unable to stabilize its finances. The hospital also recently announced it was laying off 86 employees — about 17% of its workforce — and eliminating multiple service lines as it prepares for closure or is acquired by a larger health system.
