The Federal Trade Commission says Novant Health’s proposed purchase of two Community Health Systems hospitals would “irreversibly consolidate” the hospital market in the northern suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina, stifling competition and driving up prices. The proposed $320 million transaction would add Lake Norman Regional and Davis Regional Medical Center to Novant’s portfolio. The antitrust agency sued to block the deal in January.
