The largest employer on the south coast, the Bay Area Hospital in Coos County, is considering a third party partnership to help continue a financial recovery effort underway since the pandemic. At a public meeting, hospital officials heard from the public about concerns about the future of the area’s main healthcare facility. At the meeting, the board discussed the factors leading to the consideration of an additional partner which leadership says was driven by the evolution of the healthcare system since 2020. that evolution has led to higher overhead costs and a more difficult path for individual standalone hospitals to survive.
