UAB Health System has acquired Southview Medical Group, a multi-specialty practice that specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases for patients in central Alabama. Southview Medical Group has served Birmingham-area patients for more than 100 years, originally as Southside Medical Group and Lakeview Internal Medicine before the two entities merged in 1994. Southview Medical Group’s more than 30 providers — spanning internal medicine, cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology and gastroenterology — care for over 51,000 unique patients every year and have more than 130,000 patient visits annually.
